Should I start feeding my cat food formulated for senior cats?

September 27th, 2009

Hello,

I have a 7 year old, neutered male cat. Should I start feeding him senior formulated cat food? I also have a 4 year old female. She would be too young to eat senior food. I free feed them by putting their daily amount of food in their bowls and leaving it out all day. So, would it make a difference if I feed him senior food? He will probably snack on her food, and she on his.

Thank you.

I really wouldn’t worry at this stage. If something arises during the annual vet trips, then it can be addressed.

My cats range from over 141/2 years to slightly over 2 years in age. They all get the same food, and they are all doing fine.

When I was at home we had a cat that lived to be over 23 years, and he didn’t have any different diet than when he was young.

What are the benefits of feeding a dog a good quality dog food product?

September 25th, 2009

I understand that the quality of food affects your dog, but in what ways? I feed my dog Nutrience only available in town which costs over $27 per bag but my mum keeps telling me to feed him a "normal" dog food brand from supermarkets which costs only $10 per bag. She’s even told me to give him food from her restaurant, bread and boiled rice. What can I tell her so she’s convinced that my puppy does need to be fed good quality brand food and not a random diet.

Nutrition is just as important to animals as it is to humans. I used to feed my dogs supermarket name brand dog food.

Since I changed their diet, to human quality dog food here is my results.

1. Less visits to the vets. I have saved at least $100.00 on one of my dog’s vet’s visit because he was always getting hot spots, and no longer does.

2. Less shedding.

3. Better elimination

Hope this helps you. I really have saved in vet bills.

What does it mean when a grown cat eats kittens food?

September 25th, 2009

I have three cats one is two yrs old the other two are seven months and eleven weeks old. My two yr old is eating the kitten food as well as his own adult cat food. Will eating kitten food harm an adult cat he has been doing this a few days so far nothing out of the ordinary but I still worry.

The kitten food will not harm him. Kitten food is just a bit higher in protein so technically if anything it would be better for him.

When can you start feeding cat food to kittes?

September 24th, 2009

My cat just had babies and now they are 2 weeks and 5 days old. I want to know when i can start feeding them cat food.

Not until they are weaned from momma. Offer kitten food at about 5 weeks.

How healthy is tuna for cats compared to canned cat food?

September 24th, 2009

My cats don’t seem to like the wet cat food I feed them. However, they LOVE tuna fish. Does anyone feed their cats tuna?
Thanks for the information.

It’s not healthy at all. Tuna contains lots of mercury and has too much fat for cats to eat on a regular basis. A tiny bit for a treat once in a while is arguable. Just steer clear of tuna and get a high quality cat food instead. Here’s an article that might help you.
