Can you give your cat different dry food flavours or should it be kept the same?

I know you should change your cats food gradually, but I always just assumed it was different brands. ut what about different flavours of the same brand of dry cat food?
Different flavors have different ingredients, so changing flavors is actually very similar to changing brands all together and is not optimal for digestive health.
The best option is to find the flavor your cat seems to prefer, and stick with it. Your cat’s happy tummy will thank you

Sure. Usually they will like one more than the other so its good to shop around, onece you find a good dry one you can stick with it and break up the feeding everyso often with wet food as a treat. I dont want to eat McDonalds everyday for the rest of my life.

I’ve had 3 cats for over 10 years. People say you shouldn’t change their food often or they’ll throw up. I tend to find 2 or 3 brands and switch between them. We haven’t had any problems yet and all 3 of them are still very healthy.

Having a multi-cat household, I certainly do.
July 31st, 2009 at 10:41 PMI have a "buffet" of no less than 3-5 types of quality dry for kitties to self-feed,.. but do open a can of wet food during the day for those that want canned.
Cats do get tired of the same tasting foods. Finicky/picky.
So I cater to their different tastes.

Maybe it just depends on the cats. I have changed both brand and flavor of both food and treats and never had a sick type problem except for one cat. She as it turned out had a problem with any milk flavored foods or treats.

Personally, I’d go for the different flavours of the same brand of cat food.
Cat’s do like a variety in their diet, so the more variety of flavours you can give them, the better.

Here is how I do it:
I buy what good brand is on sale (no matter what the flavor) and then I pour it into my container. It is a medium sized metal trash can and can hold a huge bag of food. Then … I mixed the old food and the new food together. My cat *loves* this. Sometimes he is in the mood for chicken, and sometimes salmon, and since it is all mixed together he can pick and choose what he wants to eat. Plus getting different types is good too cause they all do different things.
