Are so many people abandoning their pets because you cannot buy pet food with government food stamps?

Is it legal to use food stamps to make home-made pet food?
There are many recipes on the internet.
You most certainly have shown the "unbalance" of life in this system. Those that can barely afford to feed themselves, having "pets" and trying to feed them. Then there is the government that is a HUGE contradiction and to what they are giving people or taking away, L>O>L>!!! BUT, don’t forget they can spend billions on war paraphernalia. Even giving tons of food to Third World Countries, while charities are asking the average to low-income people in the States to GIVE when they are barely making it themselves. What can solve all this? Not man as described in Jer. 10:23 (He can’t even make a step without tripping himself and others) What is the remedy? Christ’s Kingdom. This is going to put an end to the corruption now, then make way for TRUE peace and security. Dan. 2:44; Ps. 37:10, 11; Isaiah 65:20-25 And we are having a spiritual fulfillment of these blessings now. By us being in a "Spiritual Paradise" we can receive blessings now that can protect us from all the corruption.

you need to determine the restrictions of your food stamps and if you can buy certain products which you in turn prepare pet food, no one knows but you how you used the food

I know homeless people that eat dog food because it’s actually healthier that a lot of human food that you can buy….
Sort of scary that the petfood industry is more healthy than the human food industry….

I like the first half of Zebra’s answer but the second half seems to trail off in a spiritual answer to a practical question. Personally, my understanding of what Jesus said is, his kingdom is not of this world. And in the world we have strife or however else the bible comments on that. I don’t think one can truly expect a theocracy in our government where we will have leaders ruling with Christ like values. What I believe we can expect is politicians ruling by their own values and no concern for what the bible teaches.
I can’t imagine how anyone must feel when they have to make choices whether to buy medicine or food, let alone caring for a pet. I wouldn’t suggest to someone that has fallen on hard times to abandon their pet because it would just be plain heartless. But I certainly advise people on hard times to be practical. To not take on an expense they don’t already have which pets will bring. It’s not just a matter of feeding a pet but also a pet needs medical attention too. If you barely have enough where you will turn to the government for food stamps you won’t have enough to take your pet to the vet. I think that’s cruelty towards animals to let them not get their shots or care when they need it.
I’ve had dogs for pets my whole life until recently when my above comments finally became a realization for me. To watch a dog go into its last years in life with arthritis and other ailments but barely have the money to take care of your spouse is a sad thing to watch. My dog was a real particular eater and seemed to only be healthy eating Kibbles & Bits. Unfortunately we were only able to buy him generic dog food towards the end of his life and it made him sick all the time.
If your in that situation you truly have my sympathy.
