Have there been any pet food recalls lately?

February 19th, 2010

After that last one a couple years ago, I’m still a little scared about it happening again. I quit buying a brand that was supposedly a higher-end quality pet food because they had some of their foods on the list. I buy my cats the best food I can that they like, but I still worry about it.

I dont have a pet …my husband hates animals…..and out here there is only one brand of pet food available in the market. …. Indians dont care much about pets…they are given our left overs and they eat whatever they get and never get sick …they are very immune to anything thats given to them. we dont even have many pet care centres and the ones we have is 1000 kms away. i am overwhelmed by the love westerners shower upon their pets.

After that last incident, no company is buying anything from China. Don’t hold it against the brand that pulled foods from the shelf - I know of a few companies that pulled SKUs voluntarily, and were actually unaffected. They were being cautious, which I admire.

There was a recall on hoof treats due to salmonella, but it has already been resolved.

During the peanut butter scare, some treats were recalled, but again, it has been resolved.

Nothing else has been brought to my attention. I keep an eye out for them.

EDIT: Thanks for the post, Om nom. Raw and frozen diets don’t sell in my area, so that never made it across my desk.

Not here in Australia that I have heard, but you could always contact the vet or the animal shelters and find out if you can actually give them fresh meat and fish instead to be on the safe side :)
