The raw dog food diet is really an appealing way to care for your pet dog. But if you have never heard of this before, chances are your pet has always been fed dog food or you have even taken the task of letting them eat some leftovers or homemade dog food. In this case, it is strongly advised that you ease your pet into this raw food diet instead of immediately changing their meals into raw ones. They might respond to it positively so its best to change their eating habits one meal at a time. This would allow them to develop the needed enzymes for digesting raw food particles.
Nothing wrong with homemade dog food but it’s imperative that you understand dog nutrition if you are doing this without help. Just learn how to make excellent recipes that are balanced and healthy for dogs. Best of luck.

I don’t care how digestible corn is. Its not what dogs are meant to eat. Dogs are carnivores and are meant to eat meat. They may be able to live off a corn based dog food but they need meat to thrive.

Home cooking IS better than buying kibble or canned food IF its done properly.

Raw is even better than home cooking. Feeding raw food (if done properly) provides dogs with all the nutrients they need. Raw food is also much more digestible than cooked foods (especially kibble).

Raw diets started with nature. Nature told us what dogs are meant to eat. Some people chose to feed dogs a biologically appropriate diet. Now I don’t think kibble is all that bad as long as its high quality grain free food but raw is by far better (again, if done properly)

I chose to feed all my animals an all/mostly raw diet and they are all thriving. They are doing much better than they did on processed foods.

well I say if you can afford it and have the time to cook for your pets go for it. I don’t see anything wrong with this. Really corn is not good doggie food and is used in a lot of pet foods because it is a cheap filler. Corn is an allergen for many pets as well. Where it started? Some people have the time and money to give their pets the absolute best not a thing wrong with it.

Okay, smartass; when was the last time you saw ANY dog raid a corn field for it’s meal.

"RAW" started millions of years ago when dinosaurs started evolving into dogs. As such dogs digestive systems evolved to assimilate raw food.

The crap we call dog food in this modern age is in no way compatible with a dogs digestive system and is specifically formulated to meet a dogs most rudimentary nutritional requirements and make a lot of money for the dog food factories.
