Will there be an investigation into this pet food recall?

July 31st, 2009

Yesterday, all over the news we saw the huge pet food recall. All the articles say it’s the wheat gluten that is tied to the kidney failure the animals experience after ingesting the food. What exactly is wrong with the wheat gluten? Is it contaminated? With what? Who made the mistakes here? What do you think?

The FDA has already begun an investigation. Tests are already underway to determine what the problem with the gluten was.

Wheat gluten is cheap by products they put into dog food. The same with the corn that caused the aflotoxin poisonings last time with Diamond pet food. If people would stop buying dog foods that use CHEAP products instead of wholesome, real ingredients they wouldn’t have this problem.
You know that if you’re buying a huge bag of dog food for $15 it’s got to be made of utter trash. If you feed your dogs trash then you shouldn’t be surprised that sometimes there are problems with the ingredients causing problems.
There are no absolute guarantees that your dog won’t die from something and possibly that might be food but you increase your chances by buying a food who’s intent is to turn something that used to be junk and was thrown away (from the human food industry) and has been turned into a food for your dog. Try buying from companies whose purpose is to take good quality human grade food and make a wholesome food for your dog. Yes, it will cost more but isn’t your pet worth it?
Then take a look at feeding your dog the way nature intended - raw. http://www.rawfed.com

I heard the company "menufoods" is responsible. Being greedy caused this. Apparently they switched to a cheaper supplier for the ingredient. This little cost saving measure has caused a lot of painful deaths to the animals that ingested their products. There will no doubt be an investigation and a HUGE lawsuit because of this. Here is a link to check and see if your pet food is on the list. If it is, get your pet to a vet right away. Worry about suing them later! http://www.menufoods.com/recall/index.html
